It’s Back-to-School time!

Most schools around here are returning to school next week and it’s a time for laughter: from the children, the parents and most of the teachers. But it’s hard for some to laugh. Joy isn’t in their heart because of pain, loss,  or  betrayal.

Life is just too hard. The future too uncertain.

They feel like Job.

You remember Job? He was the man who lost his wealth, his family, his health. And his friends were the worst!

This verse isn’t Job’s words, though. Bildad the Shuhite (one of Job’s snarky friends) said this! That’s right, in verses 20 – 22, Bildad actually tries to encourage Job. “God hasn’t forgotten him.” “God will make him laugh again.” Bildad’s words.

“Behold, God will not reject a blameless man,
nor take the hand of evildoers.
He will yet fill your mouth with laughter,
    and your lips with shouting.
Those who hate you will be clothed with shame,
and the tent of the wicked will be no more.”
– Bildad the Shuhite, Job 8:20 – 22, ESV1

He will make you laugh again.

There will be seasons in our life. Some seasons feel as though they will never end. (Aren’t they always the bad ones?) But like Job, we will smile again. We will find our joy again. Pray. Read God’s Word. Let Him fill you up. Look around and see what He’s already given you.

He will make you laugh again. You can find your joy. Click To Tweet

My dogs make me laugh. My writer friends speak my language. My husband and family love me. All of these bring me joy.

What brings you joy?
